KING’S ROAD, CHELSEA – CREATIVE HUB

Today King’s Road, Chelsea is known for its upscale shops, boutiques, and high-end stores.

Historically it was a significant hub for fashion, particularly during the 1960s and 1970s and played a pivotal role in shaping London’s fashion scene during its peak as a cultural and fashion epic-enter.

King's Road was not just a place for high fashion; it became a meeting ground for creatives, artists, and musicians. The street's blend of fashion, music and art during these decades turned it into an influential hotspot for London’s counterculture.

Cultural Influence

The Illuminate Productions Enrichment King's Road site has become a hub of creative activity; featuring studios for emerging artists, artist workshops, talks and open studios for the local community,  Music rehearsal space for older adults with poor mental health, and a pop up space for independent fashion designers at the start of their career to show their designs to the public.

POP-UP SPACE

We have a rolling program of designer showcases

By providing opportunities for young fashion designers to showcase their work, we both foster their growth in an industry that can be challenging to break into and positively impact on local communities.

By supporting emerging designers we aim to promote diversity, creativity, and innovation within the fashion industry. influencing trends, offering new perspectives, and promoting sustainable and socially responsible fashion.

Young designers bring new, diverse perspectives that reflect the local community's values, heritage, or concerns. This enriches the cultural fabric of the area and can make it a more vibrant, dynamic place to live.

We promote young designers who are passionate about social causes or sustainability and bring awareness to important issues through their collections - supporting positive change.

Alice previously studied Textile Design at Chelsea College of Art. Her practice makes reference to the transitional stages in our lifetime and the cast aside nature of clothing. Working with the medium of knit, she tests the durability of yarn, often knitting on a loose tension so the physical line of the knitted row is seen. The knitting sits in conjunction with hard found frames. Specific colour combinations can evoke snippets of memory.
